We had Chris' birthday party on Sunday afternoon. It was supposed to be a low key thing, just coffee and cake with friends, but somehow no matter what the theme things always get a bit crazy and there is always lots of dishes afterwards! I think it is something to do with having friends who have kids...
Carly was commissioned to make the birthday cake (after her stunning success with the Bounty cake last weekend). She arrived at midday with all the ingredients for a choc/orange mud cake. By 3pm the cake was looking lovely, and tasted fabulous. Definitely only a one-piece cake though, it was so rich.
In the photo above Alesia is leading out in "Happy Birthday" - which made it difficult for the rest of us to sing with her as she chose a key way up there in the higher registers. Her singing is going well though, as she has been practicing for her songs in the upcoming school performance of "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory"
Chris wore his party shirt (given to him in Indonesia) and dusted off the coffee machine. He played Mr Barista in the kitchen while the rest of us domolished all the snacks. Above he is blowing out his candles for the second time, as the first time he missed out due to one of the boys blowing them out first!
