Almost grateful

My photography project this year is "365 Days of Gratitude" - where I take a photo each day of something I am grateful for. I have been having fun finding things to photograph (though I will admit on at least one day I have had to think hard for a photography subject!). The results so far are here. Some days I am able to find many things to be grateful for, and find it hard to chose just one photo. So I have put some of the recent near misses in this posting, just for a bit of extra gratitude.

At least once a week Chris, me and Terence (our finance director) eat bibimbup at small Korean restaurant near to the ADRA office. Terence speaks some Mongolian, so he orders three serves - one vegetarian for me. The meal comes with lots of little side dishes, all fresh. I am grateful that I have had the chance to discover how obsessed Koreans are about fresh food that tastes good. Of course, they consider that no food is equal to Korean food, but I can forgive them when I get a good dolsot bibimbup served up sizzling in a hot plate, with the rice going crispy brown on the bottom...

I took this photo out the car window on the weekend on the way home from church. It had been snowing all morning and I was grateful that it was warm enough to snow (I never thought I would ever live somewhere to be able to say that).

I took this photo because I was very grateful that this tin of sweetened condensed milk has zero cholesterol (that is what the text says in the blue dot next to the cow).

This photo was taken during Chris' birthday party yesterday. Alesia, Justus and Masake all have aprons on and are cooking "soup" for the adults. The soup is water, with soggy crackers mixed in (stolen from the table) and little bits of chocolate (stolen from the mixing bowl used for the cake icing). It was great to see them playing so well together, and very funny when we were all served this "soup" and had to pretend to like it!

I was grateful to see Keira taking some quiet time during the party yesterday, and reading some of "The Magic Pudding" - to get this book down she would have had to stand on tiptoe on the back of the couch in the playroom to reach it. So she was clearly determined to do some reading!
