On Tuesday we went to Fun for Kids at the local church in the morning. In the afternoon I got up the energy to take both girls to the gym, where they have child-minding. Thankfully there was only three other kids there, so both Keira and Alesia had a good time. Keira had such a good time lying on a big floor play gym they had there that I have got her a second hand one through Ebay. On Tuesday night I did the bath dinner bottle story juggle and managed to have both girls asleep by 7:30pm. Then I enjoyed two hours to myself before giving Keira her last feed and going to bed.
So I figured things were going to be ok with Chris away.
Wednesday - Keira woke up at 4:30am, which is not a problem as she usually goes back down again well. Alesia got up at 7am and then woke Keira up at 7:30am. So I managed to get Alesia to Family Day Care on time and was in the office with Keira by 8:45, which I thought was pretty good for a solo effort. Keira went to sleep like the dream girl she is and I settled in for a productive day. At midday Keira woke up, seemed happy we went for a walk I had lunch and then I put her down again. That was not what she wanted. After about two hours of trying to get her to sleep I decided to give up on the office and go to the supermarket then get Alesia. After the supermarket (which Keira enjoyed, still awake) I fed Keira in the car. This went well until she vomited all over me - something she rarely does. We went to get Alesia and then came home. I was starting to feel tired but we managed the bath dinner bottle routine - until Keira started crying really hard. Thankfully Alesia was a great girl and went off and put herself in the bath (proving she really can take off her clothes and climb into the bath by herself). I tried to sort out Keira, who still had not had a sleep since midday. I figured she must be getting a cold (thanks to Alesia coughing in her face the previous week) so gave her some Panadol. Then we all sat on Alesia's bed and read stories.
7:30pm came and went and both girls were still awake. The Panadol had calmed Keira down and now she was looking around with a spaced-out gaze. Alesia must have had a nap at Family Day Care because we went through several excuses why she couldn't stay in bed:
- I'm thirsty (so she had a sip of water)
- I need to do wee and poo (then when on the toilet announced that her bottom was empty). This was done twice.
- I'm scared
- The light is blinking (which it was as it is on a dimmer switch, so I used another lamp)
- Keira is making clicking noises (which she was when she was "resting" in the cot in Alesia's room in my vain hope that she would go to sleep)
So now I am just taking each day at a time until Chris gets back on 10 March, but I hope most of them are like Tuesday!
