Sydney beaches

We have been making the most of the beaches and harbour here in Sydney - despite the traffic tangles in getting around. Last weekend we checked out Clontaff beach (looks onto the Spit Bridge), checked out the views at Tania Park on Middle Head, had dinner on the foreshore in Manly, swam in the ocean pool at Collaroy Beach and had dinner in a beachside cafe at Dee Why. Alesia didn't get a bath all that weekend as she fell asleep on the way home each night. By the end of the weekend her curls were very sandy and heading towards mini dreads. She seems to like her hair better that way.

Alesia is pictured above running away from Chris at Clontaff Beach. She has discovered the fun of splashing people. She has also inherited sensitive eyes from her Dad and likes to wear her sunglasses now when we are out during the day.

Below is a picture of Keira tolerating the wind at Tania Park on Middle Head. She has done well being taken out and about on weekend afternoons as she sleeps away most of the morning. We had two nights this week where she didn't wake up until 6:30am.

It can be hard to get a photo of Alesia and Keira together where they are both smiling. Below are the results of a recent photo session. Alesia still looks like a giant compared to Keira, but we saw a newborn this week who made Keira look like a giant.

I have been able to juggle work and Keira reasonably well so far because Keira likes to sleep in the mornings. So we all get up on the days I go to work and get Alesia to family day care, then off to the office where Keira goes to sleep in the corner. Some of the women at work are either envious or think I am crazy, but so far things are going well. Chris is off to PNG for two weeks this Monday so it will be harder but we should be ok.

We are pulling Alesia out of long day care on Friday as she really doesn't like it that much. When we pick her up and ask how her day was she usually answers "I didn't cry". They have just raised their fees to over $70 for the day so it is good timing.

Alesia is giving us some ripper comments lately. Some include:

"Angry boys don't have to wear sunscreen"

"Jesus forgot to give me a pet"

"Daddy, why does the moon float in the sky?"

It was Chris' birthday this week. Alesia was very excited and counted down the days. On his actual birthday we had to have balloons, go buy a cake and eat lollies. Alesia is even more excited now that she knows that the next birthday in the family is hers....even though it is so far away to be almost beyond comprehension (April).

We have decided not to travel with Chris to Thailand in April, as it was going to be an expensive rushed trip. But that just means one more week that he won't be home. He is doing a lot of travel between now and June. On a brighter note it looks like we have the chance to go to Fiji in May, so I am working on that now.

We are also looking forward to our holiday in Melbourne in March. We will be in Melbourne from 12-19 March and have rented a house in Elwood so we can wander the beach and drink coffee in St Kilda. We can't wait...
