My sister Natalie spent a week with us in late January. She is an ADRA intern in Mongolia and had to do a week's orientation with ADRA Australia. It was great to have an extra pair of hands around the house to help out with Alesia and Keira. It was a hot week, and the air conditioning was not working at the office, so she got a last blast of summer. On her last weekend it was 40 degrees outside. We decided to go to the beach to cool down. By the time we drove from Wahroonga to Dee Why the temperature had fallen to 26 and there was a stiff sea breeze. Natalie still went in the water, as she was going to snow and ice in the next 24 hours. Keira was very unimpressed with the wind. We had fish and chips by the sea and drove home at about 9pm. By the time we reached Wahroonga it was back up to 37.
A fire had started that afternoon in the bush we can see from our balcony. That night we got up at 1:30am to turn the air conditioner on. The fire was bigger and looked like a hellish inferno that was filling the sky. It took them two days to get the fire out, and it created chaos on Pacific Hwy (it runs outside our house).
Below is a picture of Natalie and Keira taken at the Sydney airport before she left for Mongolia. This is followed by a picture of Nat in Mongolia. So she went from surf to ice in three days!
Keira is smiling a lot now, huge grins. She loves hanging out with Alesia, even though she runs the risk of getting squashed. For four nights in a row she slept from 9pm until 5am. We were denied sleeping through ourselves though, as Alesia got a cold and fever so kept us up. Last night Alesia was fine but Keira woke up at 3am...so one day we will get to sleep through.
I am so far behind in my blog postings that I can't really remember any news to share. I do have some great photos though that were taken this week with Alesia, so will put them on a separate posting.
