A few weeks ago we decided to take the new Nissan X-trail for a spin on a Sunday afternoon. We headed east, followed the Tull River and then turned left up a valley in a place called Gachuurt. We had not driven this way before, as usually we follow the river. Everything is getting nice and green, though you can still see some snow on the tops of the bigger hills. Out here the housing is mostly "Summer Houses". I like their cheerful colours.
We drove for about 20 minutes and then stopped by the side of the road to wander a bit. On the right-hand side of the road was a boggy area, on the left a hill like a moonscape.
When we looked closely at the moonscape we found the first wildflowers of spring. We got very excited (green things! flowers!)
Chris took the high road and explored the moonscape with Keira. I took the low road and jumped between soggy spots with Alesia. The highlight of the afternoon was when Chris threw his aerobie (fancy frisbie) and lost it. He wandered all over looking for the thing, probably swearing most of the time. Then we wondered if it had rolled into a puddle on the road, so he got me to drive quickly back and forth through the big puddles (like I said, we have had a lot of rain) so that the water would splash up and he could see the bottom of the puddle. We got the new car filthy, and then noticed a lone Mongolian horseman half-way up the hill watching us. Foreign weirdos....Eventually I walked a few metres up the hill to help with the search....and found the aerobie...
