The weather and construction

It seemed that overnight the trees were suddenly green and plants were covered in buds. Some trees even had a dusting of blossom. We had a week of mild weather, with warm, sunny days and I packed away all the winter woolies. Then one day the skies were grey, and it looked like rain. I had not seen it rain here before so I did not believe it until I saw it, but we had about three days of constant rain storms, interspersed with brilliant sunshine. The park outside our window looked wonderful (ok, we don't have much greenery in the city, so anything is good!)

Last Sunday it was 30 degrees, hot on the balcony. Warm enough to go for a big walk wearing just t-shirt, jeans and sandals. I decided it was warm enough to put some soil in the balcony boxes and plant some tomatoes and basil. Alesia helped me with the seeds and we carefully watered them.

The next day we awoke to snow....I have kept watering the seeds but I am not too hopeful. I think I need to invest in some pots I can move inside and out according to the t
emperature.

The photos below were taken two days apart...

Next door to our building they are digging a big hole for a new building. They work at very convenient times - digging from about 3pm until 3am. Look closely at the first picture and then at the second. They had a major mishap with the digger!

I have included a few photos of our lounge/dining room. We have unpacked all our boxes, so the apartment is starting to look more like a home. These photos were taken the morning the snow fell. We inherited a huge tv from the previous Country Director. The space is nice and big as a wall was knocked down to remove a third bedroom. So we get morning sun and afternoon sun, which makes the place cosy no matter the temperature outside.

Time for me to go to bed, the digger is at it again outside. Wonder what they will knock over tonight while working in the dark...
