It has been a while since I did a garden update. I had a successful first summer - considering I moved house at the beginning of it! I learned a great deal about growing things and now love the process of watching a plant grow from seed into something green and beautiful. I am nowhere near self-sufficiency (as Chris keeps reminding me), but I now know the satisfaction of growing and eating food for myself and I am hooked. I also know that if I can manage it here in Mongolia gardening in Australia will be much easier!

Even van Gough would be impressed with my sunflowers!

Keira and Alesia enjoy picking the fruit. Keira checks the tomato vine every day to see if more have turned red. One of my aims in growing things in the house was so that the girls understood a little bit more where food actually comes from. We have learned that it only takes a few seconds to eat something that took weeks to grow.
