Last weekend we drove down to UB's river. It was a chilly afternoon and we had been meaning to go and play on the ice for a few weeks. It was still solid at the river, with others having the same idea as us and skidding around and wrestling out in the middle of the wide river.
We drove down to the edge of the ice and then walked out. Above you can see Alesia and Chris standing in the middle of the river. It is a wide river, with lots of fast water in it during summer. Alesia loved skidding around on the ice. Keira didn't, but eventually she decided that it was pretty fun.
We did funny shimmy shimmy dances and enjoyed the sparkle of the ice when the sun came out from behind the clouds. Alesia did a short video, which I hope to upload to this post soon if I can find the time before the birthday events get going tomorrow.

The bane of my life last summer is back. The photo above is taken from our balcony. The digger is sitting directly on the ice lake in our back yard (which shows the depth of frozen ice there), using a jack hammer thingy to break up the ice and then load it into the waiting truck. They did this for over two days - mostly at night. Perhaps they figure it is easier to carry the ice away than pump all the water out once it melts, but the construction site is sitting over an under ground river or spring, and they had to run a pump 24/7 all last summer to keep the water away.....I can't wait for the construction season to start again.....
