It has been a whirlwind. After finishing work on 30 November Chris left for Bangkok for a week of meetings. I have some photos of Keira's 1st birthday (30 Nov), but will have to put them up on the blog later. While Chris was away I finished packing the house and on Friday 7th December met with two sets of removalists - one to take our things to Melbourne for storage and the other to take our things to ship to Mongolia. All I can say is that I am glad that particular week in my life is over....Few tears of exhaustion, no fights with Chris (because he wasn't there) and a few kilograms lost in lugging boxes around. I left the unit on Friday evening and came back with Chris on Saturday to move the final things down to the hard rubbish. Then that was it and the new tennants moved in on Sunday.
We said good-bye to some Sydney friends at a birthday party on Saturday afternoon, which turned into an impromtu pool party despite the chilly weather. During the party I spent most of my time on the phone while our things were delivered to my brother's factory in Melbourne for storage, but everything worked out well and I didn' t need that transit insurance after all.
We arrived in Melbourne and tried to start having a holiday - always difficult with small kids who have not learned to sleep in yet. We did a lot of shopping in the first week for Mongolia - sleeping bags, new pram, etc. The pram was a winner - we got an excellent one for $50 on ebay! At the end of the first week Keira decided we needed to be house-bound for a while and came down with chicken pox. Luckily it was a fairly mild case, and she didn't really scratch - just crawled around silly most of the time as she was irritated.
We visited my grandparents and found my uncle and aunt from USA were also visiting. Uncle Colin happened to be in Australia on the day Alesia was born and visited me in hospital. So we took an updated photo nearly four years later. We then started getting ready for Christmas. Below is a photo of Alesia decorating the Christmas tree at Jensen's house - she loved it!
