Wonderful Wednesday Pt 2

I wanted the girl's to see something of Suva other than Veronica's house and the transit flat. So far they had been too sick, but on Wednesday afternoon both were ok for a wander. We caught a taxi into town in the afternoon (feeling confident enough after our lunch experience that we would not get lost). Firstly we wandered the fruit and vege market. It was clean with great variety and great prices. Chris and I definitely think we could live in Suva! Below is Chris and Alesia next to a pile of pineapples. We did manage to eat heaps of these.

We then found our way to the Suva Handicraft Market. Alesia loved all the "pretties" - as you can see below. Chris picked up some nice things.

We took the photo below at the craft market while waiting for the vendor to bring us some change. He got chatting with Chris in the hope that Chris would forget about the change, but he didn't and so we had to chat and then wait for the guy to go get some money.

We wandered the streets for a bit, picking up bits and pieces. On the inflight magazine on the flight over I read an article about the best coffee shops in Suva. Chris had already visited one of them earlier in the day, so we found another one - Jardins. Below is Alesia eating a choc muffin and enjoying a smoothie.

Keira was feeling particularly happy, as while sitting in the cafe she managed to have her first full bottle in about three days. Chris was enjoying another cafe latte and a squashed croissant. Keira thought she would have a bit. Everyone was happy, Fiji trip was ending well...then a piece of croissant got stuck in Keira's throat and set off her gag reflex. First she vomited all over Chris. I held Keira while Chris tried to clean himself up with serviettes. Then she started coughing again. We didn't think she could have anything left, but then the rest of the bottle came up and all over me and the wooden floor. Alesia started laughing. We were the only customers (luckily I guess) so the owner came rushing over with a mop. Anyway, Chris said the coffee was ok, and I guess we provided entertainment for the staff. We visited a book shop to buy a gift for Veronica before heading back to the transit flat. The book shop had a good range and prices were not too bad - though FJ$65 for the latest Harry Potter was a bit much for me. We got a taxi back home and started packing. A baby sitter came at 7pm as we had a dinner with the senior figures from the church office in Fiji. This dinner was at an eco lodge just outside Suva, in the hills. I didn't know this and dressed for inside. I should have worn jeans and my jacket! The meal was great though. We then packed up and had a horrible early start on Thursday morning to fly home. So that was Fiji - maybe we can do it again sometime - without the sick children this time!
