Saturday in Suva

Friday night was a hard night. Alesia seemed to be getting better, just coughing until she gagged regularly throughout the night. Keira's temperature went up and down and then up and up until I decided to give her two doses of medicine, which brought things down a little. On Saturday morning Keira was sleepy, but cool, so Chris took Alesia to the church next to the compound for Sabbath School. After Sabbath School we hung out at the flat until lunch with David Cram, his wife Veronica and their three kids. Alesia had a great time playing, as did Chris! David Cram is the ADRA Fiji Country Director. He is pictured below giving Keira a cuddle. She seemed to like him.

Chris spent a fair bit of time building towers with the blocks.

On Saturday afternoon Alesia went with Veronica and the kids to the afternoon Adventist Youth program. David took Chris, me and Aleisa for a drive up to Fulton College. I had visited Fulton about 9 years earlier when I came to Fiji on a volunteer project. Fulton has just had some bad news as the landowners have refused to renew the lease on their land and the entire college may have to relocate.

Saturday night was a quiet one in the flat, hoping that the girls would have a restful night. This didn't happen and I spent most of the night sharing the bed with Keira checking her temperature. On Sunday we faced the washing machine challenge. First we had to find it on the compound. Then it looked like it needed money, so Chris tried various type of coins. Finally someone told him that you needed tokens, but you could only get tokens from a particular lady in the office during working hours. Then one of the ladies living on the compound took pity on Chris and let us use her washing machine. When the washing was hung out Chris and Alesia caught a taxi into town to see "Surf's Up" at the movies. It costs FJ$5.50 for an adult (about AUD$4) and Alesia was free. Chris said he enjoyed it and Alesia seemed to know what was going on. Her first time at the movies!
