Some of my family in Australia recently met Tileubek (Bek). Before we left for Australia Bek's wife made the girl's Kazakh Princess costumes. In the far west of Mongolia there is a large population of ethnic Kazakhs. They have a different language, different customs, different food. Purely due to the whims of modern political mapping they now live in Mongolia, instead of in neighbouring Kazakhstan. We are enjoying learning more about their music and customs and have been watching dvd clips of traditional Kazakh dancing. Both my girl's wanted to dress like the lovely musicians (complete with all the jewels) so Bek's wife made us these wonderful costumes.
