On Sunday afternoon we did one of those excellent spontaneous things when a friend rang and suggested a picnic by the river. I opened the fridge and found whatever food was portable and we headed down to a quiet spot about 20 minutes out of town. We were next to a shaman site, so when we strayed within 15 minutes of the spot (marked by many flags) apparently the ground had been purified - so we kept our distance as we planned to get wet and muddy! After three days of temperatures in the low 20 C the trees are starting to wake up. Seeing the new green tips and the blossom was wonderful. All pictures in this post were taken with my Fuji Finepix 70 EXR (a wonderful point and shoot camera with heaps of cool settings if you are looking for a new one). I tested out the macro function with the pro focus setting (meant to create that professional looking blurred background) on the tree blossoms and was impressed with the results.
"Charge!" The kids ran through the trees, collected coloured rocks, picked up mud and generally got dirty.
"What Mum? I can't run with my big stick? Yes Yes, I will keep my hat on." By the way, Keira's clothing was styled by Keira today.
We made some new friends. This little boy is half French and half Mongolian - hence the extreme cuteness, which was enhanced by his little French accent. Note the pink Alesia, who also selected her own clothes today (right down to the pink belt!)
Our fun was cut short by the excitement of the first spring rains. It was barely a mist, but it set in and so we packed up. Keira decided that my jacket was more stylish to borrow than Chris' jumper.

Taxi service home was provided by ADRA (charged to personal in case you are wondering Terence!), and we are very thankful that there is no law enforcement of the seat belt rules here!
