Mongolia Adventure

Latest news for us is that Chris has been asked to be Country Director for ADRA Mongolia. I will be able to work part-time as Programs Director. We don't have departure dates set yet, but will definitely be there by January 2008. We have no comprehension of the cold, but are really excited by the prospect of learning about a completely different country and culture, with no direct links to Australia or "British" colonial history. Here are some pictures. The mint green building is where the ADRA office is (on the bottom floor) and where our apartment is (on the top floor). To think we were tired of the two flights of stairs we do now! I think this is a view from one of our future balcony windows.

Not sure what this building is - the current country director sent me a heap of photos of Ullanbaatar (Mongolian capital) and this building looked interesting!

Below are some photos of the countryside. We are really looking forward to exploring the immense landscape of Mongolia. I am looking at getting a camera that can adequately capture the wide-open spaces. Only about 1% of the country is urban, and there are more horses than people. We have been watching video of Mongolia that tourists have put up on You Tube. We have also watched the Mongolian episodes of "Long Way Around" (bike show where they drove through Mongolia) and I have been reading the Mongolian Lonely Planet. The language is going to be really hard to learn. Anyway, I will share more information when I have it.
